    My Industrial

Hey i am new to this site so i thought i'd first off say heyy.Smile

and also i just got an industrial done on friday july 11th...it went really well, more then i expected...i got freaked out by the length of the bar...and i was afraid of how much it will hurt when he peirces it...but it all went fine!...i loved it after he put it in and it really didnt hurt at all when he pushed the needle through. I was very satisfied =) it turned red and throbbed for a few hours but after that it was fine...i started turning the bar that night so it doesnt get stuck and gooey. and i felt fine sleeping that night also...it even feels fine now it only throbs a tiny but when i apply cleaner which is expected. But from what i have heard from people/and reasearching get peircings there it hurts majorly! and i havent felt any major pain at all...should i expect some haha =P
anyways since it seems to be healing really well and fast...how long should i wait to change it? cause i just bought this.... http://www.bodyartforms.com/images/candystriped_industrial.jpg  and i know its going to be really tempted to put it in right when i get it hha..im a sucker for that. i figured wait 2 or 3 more weeks till its its not so sore...i dont want to get it infected.
anyways thank you for reading this and i hope to get some replies =P i dont really know anyone with an industrial but i do know people with cartlidge peircings.

Make sure you don't twist or turn the barbell, as this can tear up tissue, prolong healing, and promote scar tissue. Don't use chemicals to clean your piercing, as they can damage tissue and draw out the healing process. Stick with sea salt soaks and a quick splash of water in the shower to clean off your piercings.

Some additional tips may be found here:

    http://forums.bodyartforms.com/forums/t/4776.aspx

Industrials can take up to a year or longer prior to healing entirely, so I would wait until you are healed before you change the jewelry. Any sooner than that and you may cause some serious damage to the piercing.

    Re: My Industrial

Congrats on your industrial! My little sister has one that she waited three years to get and she loves it. I just wanted to give you some quick advice on their healing in my experience: don't turn the barbell. If you were pierced with high quality jewelry with a good finish, which you should have been if the shop is good, you do not have to worry about it sticking at all. Turning it will only disrupt the skin that is trying to form in your fresh piercing. Any "sticking" you might think you feel is just naturally occurring lymph and blood that will come off with regular cleaning and showering. Also, the best thing for a new industrial is sea salt, The industrials I've seen that seem to heal the best and without the infamous bump used sea salt soaks or swabs to keep them clean, and not too many chemicals.

As far as changing the barbell, you'll want to wait at LEAST 6 months to think about it. Because industrials have two holes and not just one, it's double the stress on each end, and they take a long time to heal.

    Re: My Industrial

I definitely would not use contact lens cleaner on your industrial (or any piercing for that matter), it contains many types of preservatives and additional chemicals that you don't need near a healing wound. Stick with sterile saline solution in a can, you can find it at your local pharmacy. :)

    Re: My Industrial

I would start using that then. And generally a good rinse in the shower to make sure there's no lingering shampoo will suffice. Is your contact liquid solution or cleaner, and is it preservative-free? If it's a cleaner don't use it.

    Re: My Industrial

If you must use a premixed saline, this works well:

But mixing your own is way cheaper and much more versatile.

    Re: My Industrial

Seriously, just sea salt. Chemicals are not necessary.

    Re: My Industrial

It's not advised to use that during the healing process. Benzalkonium chloride is a noted allergen and can lead to irritation of the piercing site in some people.

Now Lindsey is faster than I am. :P
