I'm not sure where to put this question, or even if there is a place for it. (I apologize in advance if it doesn't go here.)

I've been wanting/trying to make a purchase using my American Express gift card. However, when I go through the checkout process, I click on the Gift card option, and then put in my card information. However, when it takes me to the "Payment" screen, it says Order Confirmation, but it doesn't say the transaction has gone through, or anything at all. It just shows me the items in my cart. In the top right-hand corner, the items are still in my cart, and never checked out. It also doesn't say "place order," or anything of the sort. I haven't received an email confirmation, and my balance is still untouched on my gift card. Am I doing something wrong? Can I even use one of these gift cards as payment?

 Any help would be appreciated.

Isn't the gift card just like a regular credit card? I would treat it as such and try checkout again.

I'm not too sure. This is my first one. But it isn't a personalized card, it was purchased from Rite Aide. There is a space to fill in your name when you select the Credit Card option at checkout, but the card itself has "A Gift For You" on the front, where the persons name usually goes.

any gift card endorsed by a credit company acts like a credit card. when the purchaser pays for the gift card, the money goes to the credit company. they're a pre-paid credit card moreso than a gift card for a specific company. when you check out, click the credit card option and enter the information like you normally would. i did that with a visa gift card my mom bought me last holiday season.
