    Lobe removal

    Locked Reply Contact
    I am currently going to school for economics, and mathematics and want to get a career as an actuary. This being said, I will almost positively not be able to have stretched lobes in that job but at the same time I am a live for the now kinda person so I am planing on stretching up to 5/8"ish. So I have been thinking about after college just getting them cut off. Does anyone know more about this? Like how much it costs, is there anesthetic, has anyone hear done it? Any info would be appreciated.

     It would depend on where you go and who does it how much it costs.  And unless you go to a doctor, there will probably be no anesthetic.

    How do you know they won't be accepted though?

    It depends on who you go to for lobe closure. I've heard a modification artist quote someone between 400 and 600 dollars for lobe closure. Plastic surgeons are legally allowed to use localized anesthetic, I've heard quotes of well over a thousand dollars (insurance will most likely not cover the cost). It really depends on upon geographic location and which professional you choose to go to.

    If you're in it for the short term aesthetic of large gauge lobes, surgical reconstruction is an option. Keep in mind that it can be costly, painful, and may possibly provide a disappointing result. All wounds produce scarring of varying degrees.

    I mean after I get out of college, get them cut off so I dont have lobe piercing. And im not 100% sure they wont be accepted, but considering I would have to wear a suit every day, Im assuming that corporate america wouldn't let me have them... I really want to keep them, but i dont think I could.

    Personally I think it's ridiculous to change your body in such a permanent way if you are almost positively going to have to go through pain and a lot of money to get rid of it in such a short time.

    Don't forget that you didn't start your job with stretched lobes. You have to get hired and prove you can do your job well before anyone will overlook anything. Also it could depend on the state and how conservative the area as well as a factor.

    Actually yes they were stretched.  Maybe not as big as they are now, but they were stretched.  2g iirc.

    Well, as a word of encouragement I work at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists office in Tulsa, OK (very, um...."snooty"? I don't mean the people aren't nice but definitely stared at my ears for quite a while before asking questions). I wear my hair up all the time and I'm at 3/4" if that gives you an idea of what the pic is. And everyone was quite intrigued...asked me questions about them and what kind of jewelry I can wear, did it hurt, does it hurt, etc etc. It's contract work, but I'm in their office everyday and they know that I'm probably going to be doing a LOT more work for them. It does help in a job if youre more indespensable than just another face, you get what I'm saying? Anyway, hope this gave you a new aspect on the subject :)

    Not to mention, if you have a degree and with in corporate America, they tend to be more open about things, than places you'd tend to work at through college... I was a real estate agent for a while, and now that Im back in school I work retail, I get a lot more shit now than I did. Also I went on a buisness trip with my mother, she works for HP, it was full of important people, and most were very interested and excited to talk to me about my piercings, lobes, tattoos...

    I guess Im just scared that after all that time effort and money of getting my degree, I wont be able to get a job because of my lobes. And I know some of you are going to say 'well if your in it for the short term, you shouldn't do it" but you only live once you know? but it at the same time I want to work in a pretty conservative line of work. I would love to have large lobes forever, but I know that might be able to happen. I just want to know what my options are.

     hinders are always an option. i mean 5/8" isnt like HUGE. my friend has 5/8"s and if he wore hinders and i didnt know what they were i would just think he has large earlobes haha

    mods= 2x 00g lobes, 18g second holes
    future mods= septum, lip, nose, nape and a few more.
