lyrics that mean something to you i think is a great idea.  but, band logos and actual band names.... permanent regret.

I had a friend who really liked this certain band and he went as far to get this symbol tattooed on this left arm. The tattoo is of a large black and blue "T" stands for the band Trivium. His reason was: "I couldn't find their t-shirt in my size." His size meaning like 2 or 3XL. So he thought it was a good idea to get their symbol tattooed onto his arm. Still to this day I think it was not a smart idea, because he'll probably grow up to hate the band, but oh well, not my ink.  

i think you should do it because sleeping giant is awesome, those lyrics are awesome, god is awesome, youre awesome. i usually think band tattoos are dumb unless its a band youve stuck with for a long time or something inspired by them or their lyrics like you said. although i do plan on getting the misfits skeleton from legacy of brutality tattooed on me someday. cocker.

 i've been thinking about a band tattoo for some time now

i want the ugly organ (see avatar, minus the ugly green part and dots), its a concept album by cursive. and even though i could easily stop liking cursive, they totally changed my perspective on songwriting and how its possible to totally transcend a genre. 

 and the thing about it is, it's not like a "cursive" tattoo, its just art from their album. so by your description i think it could be really excellent. 

however i'm fresh at 18 so i'm pretty eager to get any kind of tattoo possible :)

 i plan on getting a band related tattoo as one of my next pieces

the band has changed me as a person, changing the way i think of things, making me open minded. pretty much shaped the way i am today, which is a part of me

 i think if its lyrics or imagery that really mean something to you personally, then its awesome. but just the band name or their symbol is kinda lame. e.g. i have "No Day But Today" tattooed on my back not because 'omg i totally love RENT its the best thing ever!!! lulz' 

If it means that much to you, do it. 

On the other side of the glass, I'm sure there's some sad a-hole out there with a Wacko Jacko tattoo that he got in the 80's, because the music really spoke to him.  Just be warned.

exactly my thoughts. i like a lot of band logos, but that's something that changes over the years. however, a meaningful lyric could be nice having it tattoed.

it's the music and lyrics that take me away, not the band's logo or name. haha.

 I'm generally not a fan of band tattoos but then the only people I know with band tattoos have my chemical romance lyrics so that has a lot to do with it.

 Another vote for if the lyrics are meaningful, go for it. I know a few people with the HIM heartagram tattooed on them. In a few years, they may still love it or feel like an ass for having a band symbol on them that they no longer like.

Honestly the heartagram tattoos seem idiotic to me. Like something you'd see stamped on the rump of a My Little Gothic Pony.

anyway, i think that unless someone has heard of sleeping giant, they wouldn't even make the connection of that being a "band tattoo". afterall, i do believe it says that in the Bible.
