    custom???

ok so i have my sptum pierced at a 16 and im haveing a problem finding  anything that fits. i was pierced with a 16 gauge circular barbell but it was too long to flip up so i ordered Anatometaltitanium septum retainer
Product # 4339 and the wearable size is too snug to wear it down, it was literally cutting into my flesh after like 2 hours and i cant find a circular barbell thats wide enough and short enough(i have a flat and wide nose)too be able to flip up, is my only option a custom piece of jewelery??? any ides would be awesome...

    thnks in advance

    Re: custom???

Perhaps you could visit your piercer for proper measurements or purchase a pair of calipers for home use so you'll know exactly which dimensions you need to order. The piercer could also readjust your Anatometal retainer by widening the space between the legs.

I too have issues finding comfortable septum jewelry, so I experimented with quite a few jewelry options to see what worked best for me. You could certainly contact the folks at BAF (or Glasswear Studios) to see if they could find a custom piece for you.

I just read your other thread concerning the removal of your jewelry. If you keep changing jewelry, you're going to doom the piercing to excessive amounts of scarring and painful healing. Even flipping a retainer up and down can greatly hinder healing. You really shouldn't even change septum jewelry until the second or third month of healing. Please find a reputable piercer immediately to help you, or just leave the retainer/barbell down during the healing process.

    Re: custom???

My piercer adjusted all of my initial septum jewelry for me. I was pierced with a CBB, which he bent outwards widthwise so that I could flip it up, and made sure that I could, and a couple weeks later, I had him autoclave and install a niobium septum retainer, which he bent inwards a little so it would be snug and not fall down. Please find an experienced piercer who can help you fit septum jewelry.

i fully understand how important it is to wait till a peircing is fully healed, due to the circumstances that were beyond my control i took the nessessary  and safest option i could, (i.e. i went to the piercer to change the jewelery, and i havent touched it scince) although i would like for it to be seen i have to wear my retainer flip up, this is what my piercer told me to do for now,  i was wondering for future reference what my option was...sorry if i sound bitchy i just woke up...

I had to do what lindsey was talking about.  I have a small wearable area but the bottom of my septum is quite thick.  Bending may be the easiest option for you.  and don't buy glass staple shaped retainers for it :)

Because glass doesn't bend? That was my first thought =) You can't bend it out to customise it if you've got chunky cartilage at the bottom of your septum.

no, you just didn't think of it.  Others have bought glass retainers and had them break, I just didn't want it to happen to you too.
