So I recently had my septum peirced, roughly 4 days ago, i knew that if need be i could always flip my 16 gauge circular barbell up and hide it for work. Unfortunatly i didnt think about the jewlery being too long to flipp, which it was, so i had to, in a desperate attempt to hide it for work, i had too buy a pair of wire cutters to cut off about one third of the ring so that it was wide enough and short enough to be hidden. so now the circular barbell only has one set of threads and the other end is fairly sharp but dosent scratch me. i bought a retainer yesterday but im scared to change it, due to the fact that is so new and i dont think the retainer is the right width for my septum...i did my research and i thought i knew what i was getting into BUT i couldnt have fathomed this...any help would be greatly appreciated

I'd pay a visit to the piercer and have them change the jewelry. :)

If it is mentioned to a piercer that you plan to flip up septum jewelry, they usually ensure that it's capable of doing so. If not, they adjust it so that it may.
