    Keloid?

Ok so I FINALLY got my industrail done about four months ago, and I'm worried that I have two small keloids behind each of the balls (like 2mm big at the absolute most). I've ordered emu oil and my doctor gave me some cream to rub into them but all of the touching is making my industrail angry :( She said that I can get them to not get any bigger/maybe go away but I don't want the actual sites to swell up again because it's not been overly happy with me dince I got it.

    What do I do!

    Re: Keloid?

I would suggest visiting a dermatologist, a specialist in dealing with skin-related issues. If the bumps in question are indeed keloids (and not hypertrophic scarring) it will require some pretty aggressive professional treatment to get rid of the tissue with no guarantee that they won't return in the future.

Have you experienced keloiding on any other part of your body?

    Could you post photos?

    Oh right. o.o

I haven't experienced any other problems with any of my other piercings, they've all healed fine and the only one I had a problem with was my navel but that was because I would sleep on it and stuff.

    But here's a couple pics;

Sorry if they're blurry or small, my webcam sucks.

To me, that looks like hypertrophic scarring. I would still suggest visiting a professional for a proper diagnosis.

How long have you had the industrial? Did you heal it with two separate pieces of jewelry or one barbell? Have you tried using different styles or a shorter length of jewelry to cut down on the stress the holes are experiencing? If so, have you noticed any change in the size or shape of the bumps?

I don't know if that's better, but thankies for at least telling me they don't look like keloids :)

I've had it done for about 4 months, and it's always just had that bar in. The woman who pierced it said don't take it out so I haven't. Do you think two seperate bars/hoops would work better?

    Re: Keloid?

There is some debate as to whether or not that method would work better. On one hand, the jewelry you are wearing right now is incredibly irritating to the holes. On the other hand if you were to change to two very well fitting small barbells there is no guarantee that when after your healed that the holes will line up well enough for you to wear one long barbell without further irritation. Would you be comfortable with only wearing two pieces of jewelry after you were healed (rings, small barbells, etc)?

Did you just recently develop these bumps, or did they appear shortly after the initial piercing? I'm asking because you may need to entirely retire the piercing for the bumps to reduce in size or go away completely.

    Re: Keloid?

I'm not sure... My problem is is that I like the idea of seperate pieces, but I'm flakey and like to try new things every so often (though saying that 'every so often' seems to be only once every two years for me)... So I can't say for sure. I'd happily consider it though if the lumps would go down.

When I first got them the sites swelled up massively, and only went down a week ago to how it is now. The top lump appeared about two weeks ago, and the second a couple days ago. The top one though I /think/ is smaller then it was... Or the reduction in general swelling is trying to make me think that.

I didnt look at the pics, but I had a few bumps form on my industrial... Crazy Chamelion soap and Chamomile tea compresses worked wonder for the bumbs, and it didnt take very long for them to go away.

Baf sells the soap, and tea compresses, just buy some chamomile tea bags at the store and make a cup of tea and hold te tea bag to your ear...

    Re: Keloid?

My industrial is also at about 4 months-ish, and right now I'm using chamomile to help with bumps. I also use heavily diluted tea tree and lavender essential oil, but it can be very harsh so if you decide to try it make sure you dilute it in emu or jojoba oil. I just know from past experience that it works well for me.

    Re: Keloid?

My sister and boyfriend only used sea salt compresses and a good rinse in the shower, and theirs both healed flawlessly.
