Year old pic, and I've posted it a few times around the boards, but here you go
That was the second cutting of my mohawk, originally it went down to my top lip when it was down. Gelatin has always worked wonders for me. Above is the length that I particularly enjoyed it at. The longest it was proved to be a pain...mainly because I coudn't fit in my car without tilting my head at about an angle! haha
You can find Knox brand gelatin at the grocery store, comes in a small box with 4 packets inside for about $2. My method for using this - First, boil a small quantity of water. While you are waiting, pour all 4 packets into a ceramic mug. I like using a ceramic mug because once you mix the water and gelatin it cools off alot slower due to having less surface area exposed (as opposed to something like a bowl) as well as the heat retention properties of ceramic. Anyways, once the water is boiling, pour about 1/3 cup of it into the mug and stir until there are no "pockets" of gelatin powder. It results in a very thick mixture. Once it is prepared, you will need to work quickly, as with such a small smount of water it will begin to set very quickly, even when warm. I found that the humidity would play a BIG part in how quickly it would set in my hair though - humid summer days it would take alot longer than cooler, dryer days. When you are done, be prepared to have one rock solid and kick ass mohawk!
One final warning...washing it out is not very fun. It would take me on average a good 10 + minutes of hot water and lots of shampooing to get it out. You can leave in it for days, and it will look just as good as the first!
