    Health and Beauty

I was wondering...what are your guys's diets and any opinions as to what to eat to stay healthy and poop everyday? I have a tummy and I hate it and I can't control what I eat. I'm already trying to exercise as much as I can, sit ups, push ups every night and I joined the soccer team this year, I also work so I don't just sit down at the computer all day. My friend told me to eat yogurt everyday cause it helps you poo...and my other friend said to eat whatever I want, whenever I want just stop when I'm full. Any suggestions?

Also, I have acne and scars on my forehead and only my forehead, I don't know why. I tried Pro Activ but once I got off it, it stopped working as with many products so I thought might as well buy cheaper products from drug stores that work the same way... When I'm on my period I break out there a lot too. What do you guys use? Opinions?

    Thanks for reading!

I suffer from acne and Im already in my late 20's. it sucks.  I use proactiv, but like you mentioned, it doesnt work as great as its claimed to work and when I stop using it for a few days my skin goes nuts.  There is this cream I use just for old acne scars and it seems to be working well.  Its called Dermalin.  I dont know how hard it might be for you to find, but its not expensive (about $15 for a small jar) so it might be worth a try.

eat fiber! you can buy wheat germ or something and put it on your cereal for extra fiber, also the Fiber 1 bars actually taste delicious! Also if you want to munch on something celery's always good because its negative calories.

Also I strongly believe in those 100 calories little snack packs, It really helps to limit how much you eat of that snack, because if you just take from a big bag you'll always eat more than the pre-packaged stuff.

Also juice and pop have a lot of extra calories that just aren't needed, so either have diet pop or 100% fruit juice.

And whenever you're bored research healthy recipes, now whenever I feel like baking I will make some bran muffins or other good stuff like that instead of supper fatty cookies :)

I can't really help you with the acne though, I took Accutane which is some serious drug that you take for a couple of months and it dries you up and gets rid of all your acne, so in the past year and a half I've only gotten like 2 pimples. But my acne was terrible before that which is why I took it.

Ooh thanks for the tips! Can you get Dermatin in Canada? Also, is bread and anything like that not good if you eat a lot? Because I eat rice every night (no choice) and a sandwich every lunch. Sometimes cereal in the morning.

Any good everyday cleansers that are not prescribed?

Lots and lots of water every day and cutting out processed/junk food seem to help alot for me. I still have some scars and acne but my overall skin tone is looking alot better.

As for skin care recs...I make my own stuff to use, but I noticed my skin reacts badly to anti-acne stuff because they are apparently too harsh. :/

I apparently suffer from emoticon overuse syndrome.

Drink lots of water, and cut out sodas completely. Seriously, water is the best thing for your body in general.

Also, if you write down everything you eat, it really helps you realize what you tend to eat, when you tend to eat too much and whatnot. Personally, I'm a boredom eater. If I'm bored, I tend to eat just to keep myself busy. Writing it all down helped me realize just how much I was eating when I was bored, and helps me avoid that.

Try switching out whole grains for bleached flour foods. Can you make a separate batch of brown rice every night for yourself to eat?

I use Clinique facial soap and whatever toner/astringent they happen to have at the store. The Clinique soap is kind of expensive, but I've had this one gigantic bar for about four years now and it's still going strong.

edit- oops, i meant switch out bleached flour foods in favor of whole grains.

you should try a raw honey mask! makes your skin really smooth and glow.  really makes it glow..

just put it on your clean face, leave it for 20-30 min, rinse off.  i do it at night and then put moisturizer on with a couple drops of emu oil mixed it.  i was doing it most nights a week for a while, but lately i've just been doing it a couple times a week.

use raw (unprocessed) honey from a health food store though.

Hmmm is Clinique soap just a general soap for the face? Yes, I will be sure to drink more water and no soda ( :( ). Yes, some people have said that cleaners for acne treatment is too harsh, so maybe I will go basic cleansing method? As for brown rice...nope. But I try to eat as little as possible, like half a bowl. An asian bowl is pretty small compared to caucasian bowls... Does keeping your hair out of your face at night when you sleep, like with a clip, help too? Because I've been doing that but I'm not sure if it's making a difference...

    Re: Health and Beauty

I swear, the best thing you can do for acne (and for good health in general) is to cut out dairy as much as possible. I know it sounds really hard because SO MUCH food contains dairy, but try to eliminate it as much as possible. Like, instead of drinking glasses of milk or having it with cereal, try substituting soy or rice milk instead. Milk is actually pretty bad for humans, especially with all the hormones and antibiotics we pump into cattle these days. The fats in milk have been shown to aggravate skin problems as well as digestive problems. When I was 14 I cut as much dairy out of my life as possible, and within two months my skin cleared up. It's stayed pretty clear ever since, and I much prefer soy to regular milk now anyway.

Also, I found that going on the pill REALLY helped with monthly breakouts. I never really had much in the way of pimples on my period, but I did find that my pores would get inflamed and my skin would be really oily for a week or so. I've been taking the pill for a couple of years now, and between that and the low dairy I hardly ever worry about what my skin's doing. Good luck with your healthful endeavors Big Smile

    This product has helped me:

     http://www.stives.com/skin-care-products/facial-invigorating.cfm

I've never been much for facial scrubs, as they tend to be harsh and never work, but this has really been helpful through the years. I think it's a pretty common product you may be able to find in drug stores. :)

I have a very poor diet personally, my best friend is very into fitness so Ill ask him on the "stay healthy side" of your question
On a week day Ill skip breakfast because I cant be bothreed to wake up early enough, maybe grab a bagle at school around 11, get a sandwich at lunch and maybe some water, then get home at eat all "instant food", you know the stuff, just add water, or put in the oven or toaster or microwave

My friend told me to eat yogurt everyday cause it helps you poo...Any suggestions?

When my little brother was younger it was impossbile to get him to poo, hed go like once a fornight so my parents would give him laxitves on friday night and let him have the shits on saturday

I know that fiber in your diet helps with poo, but not much else

Also when we were little our mother would just make us sit on the loo every morning and we HAD to poo before shed let us get off, so I guess you could try schedualing it

Also, I have acne and scars on my forehead and only my forehead, When I'm on my period I break out there a lot too. What do you guys use? Opinions?

Ive had acne for 6 years, yeah since I was 10 =[ It really sucks and kills my confidance but it is getting better
For my scars in the evening I squeeze a lemon and with some cotton wool put the juice on my face, i leave it on for half an hour, 45 mins then wash it off with soap and water, it seems to help with fading - but i dunno if i just see it fading because i think it will, but it does seem to =]

my mate also gets the acne --} period thing, theres nothing she can do about it that i know of, sorryy

Sorry for the double post Karen, I just spoke to my mate about the diet

Scratch what I said aboutmy mothers idea on giving my brother laxitivesStick out tongue
Itll make you poo too much, he says try eat more fruit as it should help

He also said try eat several small meals in a day instead of fewer larger ones, like 6 small ones instead of 2 big ones as itll digest better in your body

Try to snack on fruits over other things, stick to lean meats in meals with large portions of veg, and avoid fried fatty food =]

I tend to eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and stick to organic crackers, cereals, etc.  My weakness is sweets.  Don't have any troubles with digestion.

As for skin care, I use Burt's Bees products.  They're the only ones I've found that don't irritate my skin.  The soap bark and chamomile cleanser is the best.  Another major thing that helped my skin was switching to mineral makeup.  It doesn't clog your pores and really lets your skin breath, plus it has sun protection.  I use this:  http://www.everydayminerals.com/ .  You can actually get a free sample kit(just pay $3 for shipping).

Also, I drink lots of water and tea, which is really beneficial and much better than coffee or juices.  Green tea is loaded with antioxidants, and sweetened with honey is hydrating but low on sugar and calories.

    Re: Health and Beauty

Yeah, I've heard about diary being really bad for humans now. I don't know if this was discovered recently or even during my childhood as I would drink tons of homo milk to like grow or whatever. But it would never give me tummy aches and now that I drink less than before, sometimes it hurts after I drink a glass or something. However, cheese and yogurt don't hurt me...can I still eat those? I've also heard of the pill but they also said that they either make you break out MORE or clear it up and your boobs get bigger or stay the same size, and you get fat in random areas...I think it depends on your body type and which kind of pill you can use? Has anyone had experience with the pill other than Mixy?

Actually, I HAVE used St. Ives before...but waaaaaaay back when I first started cleansing my face (like in grade 6 or 7? which is...5-6 years ago) I don't remember how my skin reacted to it, but I will try this product since my skin has changed from then anyways :)

Does the lemon sting your face? Probably not right? No problem for double post :) I am gonna try to get my dad to buy more fruit because we as a family lack it too. I've also heard of small meals and I think I've tried it before...but it ended up being 3 big meals and then small meals in between x] but I'll try to attempt that method again. What is considered small? Like, what is an example of a typical day of small meals?

Hmm yes, water and tea. I'll try to drink those as much too. I have heard of everyday minerals buuuuut, my skin is weird, it's combination skin so I'm afraid the powder will make my skin dry and cover my oily parts, covering the pores as well... Do you know how this product affects on different skin types? I have an oily T-zone and my forehead and nose is dry sometimes...it's so weird!

     Thanks for everyone's replies!!! <3

Edit: I forgot to just add in that I use MAC products. Some people say MAC is too harsh for the skin because professionals use it, but I think it is good with covering up and doesn't make me break out...like my skin stays the same, so it just breaks out randomly or during periodsjust as it used to before I've used MAC. I use MAC everyday btw.
