I got my inner conch done 1 month ago yesterday. It was done with a straight barbell, 14g, 5/16" in length. It started showing signs of hypertrophic scarring, or so I believe, about 2 weeks ago. There is a bump in the front on one side, and one in the back on the opposite side of the front bump. They produce quite a large amount of discharge, in a light yellow tint. I've done a couple of chamomile compresses, as well as SSS and a few applications of emu oil, but the lumps seem larger in the morning. I attribute this to rolling over and sleeping on it, but it seems as though there is much less room for the barbell now then when I first got it done, even with the initial swelling.
I'm going to keep doing SSS daily and try to chamomile compress more often, but I'm afraid that I may need a new barbell. I'm going to give it another week of solid attention and care before making any sort of decision, and then it would be another week, after ordering a quality internally threaded or threadless barbell, before going to the nearby piercer to have him swap them out. I know this is a lot of trauma on a rather fresh piercing, but I really don't want to lose it, and even if it hinders the fistula healing, I'd rather not have the ball and back halfdome engulfed by scar tissue.
I'll see if I can dig up any pictures later.
What are your thoughts? What else can I do to help heal this thing?
