    Lower navel?

So once I get paid, I'm thinking of getting my lower navel done. I like the look of it a lot better than a standard navel piercing, and, well, at least it's more unique. :P

I have a few questions about it, though:

-Would it classify as a "surface piercing"?

    -Does it reject often?

-Does it take longer to heal than a standard navel piercing?

-Do you prefer them to standard navel piercings?

yes it's a surface piercing, so is the standard naval

it's really antomy dependant, so if you have a bottom lip you have a better chance

not really, both take about 1 year

... yea :)  although my navel isn't built to suit either... I have the ONE kind of non-piercable belly button... oh well :)

I have mine done and I can't really tell you exactly how often they reject, but since it is a surface piercing there is a chance of it. I would be sure you're suited for it anatomically first. Mine didn't take much longer to heal than my standard navel piercing did, but for the first few days it felt weirder to sit down.

    Hope that helped a little.

You'd have to go see a piercer and have them determine that.

I have the top & bottom of my navel done. I got hypertrophic scarring in both (I believe due to my weight jumping up and down) but I used hydrocortosone creme and it went away for good.

Mods: 10mm in both lobes, 16g right nostril, 16g monroe (left side), top and bottom 14g navel. Two matching star tattoos in wrists.

    Re: Lower navel?

I got mine done in August and LOVED it. It was doing perfect until one day I did a lot of bending. I then started seeing a lot more barbell than I originally did. So as of last week I took it out. I'm waiting for it to heal up and I might get either a standard navel or an inverse again. If you get it, make sure your piercer pierces it deep enough. I've seen a bunch of them just hanging on by a tiny piece of skin...
    Current: 8g Lobes, 16g Tragus, 16g Rook, 16g Conch, 16g Daith, 16g Helix, 18g L Nostril

    RIP: 14g Inverse Navel

Not trying to rain on your parade, but...

The top of your navel is much more suited than the bottom. I'd have to see it in real life to know for sure, but from your picture, the bottom of your navel does not look like one I would pierce. Also, notice the red line across your belly? That's where your stomach wants to naturally crease, that is another thing against you getting your navel pierced at all.

In reality, a whole heap of navel piercings are done on navels that are not ideal for them. It's just something a lot of piercers don't show any discretion for, because navel and nostril piercings are where they make the majority of their money. That said, a lot of those navels heal no worries.

If you're ok with the fact that you may have a scar if it doesn't work out, you may as well go for it. I personally would steer you more towards a dermal anchor, or nothing at all =)
