I took my plug out of my right lobe about 4 months ago and it shrunk from a 14mm down to a 8mm. On tuesday, I went to a place in Sheffield, UK called Thou Art.

The people there were so professional and i was so scared before getting it down but they carmed me down and the Scalpelling only took about 5 minutes for my right lobe. They put in a plastic like material in my lobe after it but they autoclaved it before putting it anywhere near me. They were so professional, they looks like they were going into a crime scene they had that much equipment. He went through 5 parts of gloves because he thought they were getting dirty off the packets that had the sterilized equipment in. He seemed abit ocd but i'd rather that, then someone would didnt care. I am so happy with the job, my ear looks great and has stopped bleeding, im so excited to see if i have teardrop lobes. Most of the scabs have come off and ive been using q-tibs and sea salt water to clean it.

I can't post pictures as of yet because my internet is down and i am at my local town library posting this right now.

How long will i have to wait until i can take the plug out? and also what would happen say if in 2 months time i took the plug out for a few months? would it downsize at all or will it just say the same? thank you.

Wahey for Thou Art! Actually, I've never been there, but whatever. I'm in love with their other/original studio, Holier Than Thou. Do you know who did your work? Was it Marcus or Graham by any chance? I love Marcus, heh. I'd say if you left them out for a few months it'd still be fairly likely they'd tighten up a bit, but I don't really know how much - I don't have scalpelled lobes or personally know anyone with scalpelled lobes. Hopefully one of the other members will shed a more accurate light on that, heh.

I didnt like the pain, it hurt abit just felt really weird. I couldn't see what was happening and it was just really sharp and pressure. I'd rather get a tattoo anyday tbh. I really didnt like it and i was shacking after the procedure.

Aw damn. Well, I'm sorry to hear that! The good thing, though, is that the procedure is over and now you can focus on the healing wound you have. :)

In regard to the plastic thing, I think they mean PTFE, HTT use it a fair bit in scalpelled piercings and punches. They won't use glass, unfortunately.

 

Well PTFE would be a different story...lets wait to hear from the poster.

I very much doubt it's acrylic. I talk to the piercers at Holier Than Thou (they're owned by the same people) a lot. Marcus and Graham are obsessive about sterilisation and cross-contamination. Holier Than Thou are one of the most well known and respected studios in the UK, and Thou Art will probably be that way soon - they're quite new though, only opened last year, I think. I wouldn't go anywhere else near me :)

so they stuck a melted glob of plastic into your ears after scalpelling them? wtf? i wouldn't let a piercer stick anything in me that i wasn't sure of the material it was made from.

Graham was the one that did the procedure and he was so professional and a really nice guy. I'm wanting to know how long it will take until i can take it out and stuff. I know a few on these boards have been scalpelled, so to them people how long did you wait until you could take it out and clean etc.

I didn't really start to take them out to clean them until they kept slipping out. I think it was about after a week or two. Otherwise, I cleaned with q-tips and flowing water. Just remember not to pick off any of the scabs, though it's really tempting. Just soak them away!

I was also wondering if i took my plug out if it would downsize, since my goal is 1 1/4" i was wondering if i could downsize and restrtch several times to make sure my lobe is thick and healthy.
