    Poor thing

Ok so today my girlfriend of 8 months and I were walking in our local mall :D Well we walked by a certain store that sells little girls jewelry, necklaces, and such im sure you know it and I saw a baby sitting on its mothers lap not even knowing what was to come. The woman was getting her daughters lobes gunned :( The sad part is the girl im totally in love with says aww thats so cute. I was like what! i didnt know what to say. I was like the poor thing dosnt even know why she is going to be in so much pain. She cant even decide if she wants her ears pierced why cant her parents wait until she can decide and get it done not using a gun. I dono I was just upset im not sure what she thinks about it now but I dono.

Im not sure why I wrote this or why it upset me but I did. O ya I love BAF.

    Re: Poor thing

Because of the society we live in, and how the majority of people are raised (did your gf get her lobes gunned at an early age?) a lot of people don't really consider the fact that the child might not want those earrings later- its just something you DO when you have a baby girl. It doesn't mean your girlfriend is a bad person, it just means she was raised to think that was perfectly normal. Just try pointing it out to her logically (in a non-hostile way) and see how she reacts

troo I guess you are right. I know she didnt even think about the things I mentioned like if she will want it when she is grown. I know she dosnt understand why i hate guns. I will just have to mention what i think about it to her in a non-hostile way like you said. If we ever get married like I hope we will I dont want our child going through that, thats why im so concerned I think.

I convinced my sister to let her daughter make the conscious decision when she's old enough, and to go to an actual piercer, not use a gun

    Re: Poor thing

my friends roommate (who is a hairdresser) has a 7yr old daughter and she got her ears pierced when she was younger. (via gun, when she was 5)

A few months ago the kid decided she wanted her ears pierced again so her mom decided to go out and buy her own piercing gun. *cringe* well it hurt so bad she only let her do one ear, waited a little while and recently had her mom do the other one. I knew piercing guns were bad, but there's no convincing this mom, she really doesn't even care.

The sad part is the dad is a tattoist/piercer/shop owner and wanted to do her ears with a needle, but mom wouldn't let him. [:-boggled] "she's too young, thats a like a real piercing!"

like using a freaking gun isn't a "real piercing"??? *sigh*

    Re: Poor thing

Last weekend I saw a baby with pierced ears, she was only twenty days old.

    I was completely astounded.

I don't know how they were done, but I don't think even Claire's will pierce that young.

Does anyone know if they have an age policy?

    Re: Poor thing

I don't understand how parents can do it that young. Not just because piecing guns are the devil, but because babies don't know better than to reach up and pull on it. Every time my husband and I walk pass claires in the mall he always rushes me past when there is someone getting their ears gunned. It just makes me so mad

    Re: Poor thing

i think claires is a discusting place.

and i think its horiable to pierce little childrens eears gun or needle.
    LET THEM CHOSE.
    its thier body.
my mom wouldnt let me pierce mine i went and got them done.
she was pissed and i said its my body if i wake up and dont have them in.
im leaveing the house and moveing in with my friend.

she now got over the fact im stretching my ears.

    but anyways,
i think its sick doing that to little kids.

i told my gf of 2 years that if we get married (which we are planning on soon as we are of age) that i am pierceing our kids ears when they want it, ill probly be a piercer by then, and that claires isnt comming neer them.
