Chances are if this is your first BBCode-based forum, you're not familiar with the commands -- including quoting. Here's a little tutorial on how to use the quotes properly.

(If things look off, bear with me... I think I've exhausted the code!)

To start, you can quote a person's whole post by clicking the "Quote" button in the top right corner of the post you'd like to quote. After the

command, feel free to type whatever you wanted to say.

If you'd like to quote something freehand (without having to press the quote button -- this is usually used for things that didn't come from the forums), simply type the word quote in brackets [ ], so that it looks like this, without the space:

. Once you've got that, everything afterwards will be in the quote box until you type

(without the space). The

command closes the quote box and returns the font to normal.

Usually, if you edit a post in which you used a quote, the quote will turn into this:

<blockquote id="quote">[b ]Quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">[i ]Originally posted by whoever
blah blah blah

To fix this, simply erase everything from "<blockquote id" to "noshade id="quote">," just before the word Originally, and replace it with

(without the space).

If you'd like to include a quote of someone who quoted someone else (using the quote button is the easiest method for this), what will happen is that the quote in their post will have the same error as above. The code will look like this (without the asterisks):

[br*]<blockquote id="quote"*>[*b]Quote:[/b*]<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"*>[i*]Originally posted by someone[/i*]

To fix this, use the same method as used in the step above... replace "<blockquote id="quote"*>[b*]Quote:[/b*]< hr height="1" noshade id="quote">" with "

" (without the space). It's OK to stack quotes... the second one will close inside the first one.

So, to review: you will have four quote commands.
(Original poster)
(The person they quoted's post)
(Ends the quote-inside-a-quote)
(Ends the whole quote)

When done correctly, it looks like this:

If you'd like to quote more than one person in one post, you cannot do so using the quote button. Instead, you will have to use the freehand method. In this case, it's OK not to label the quote with who posted it -- this is more preferrable than to post many quoting posts in a row.

To start, copy the text you'd like to quote one-by-one and post them into a new reply. It helps to have your reply in a separate window. Once you've got your text in your reply, simply frame each quote with the quote commands (
at the beginning and
at the end, without the spaces). Now you will have multiple quotes in your single post, and no one will condemn you for making multiple posts.
